The creation of HACIENDAS DE ESPAÑA in 2000 has been the result of a personal initiative of an ex-banker born in Madrid in 1959, backed by a number of European financial investors.
Chairman & C.E.O. of the ARCO Corp., his passion for fine wines and the creation of the wine hotel concept led to developing the initial six Haciendas along the Duero Valley (named DURIUS after the latin name for the Duero River), where his family has had strong roots for many generations.
As the years passed, new Haciendas blending fine wine & wine tourism were developed in different regions of Spain. Nowadays, Haciendas de España counts 7 Haciendas where visitors and wine lovers can enjoy the finest wines and food surrounded by spectacular and diverse landscapes.
