Marqués de Monistrol has had great success since its launch on the international markets. It is the No.1 selling Cava brand in Norway with its biggest market following in the UK where it ranks as the No.2 best selling international Cava brand.  

Heritage since 1882

During the Middle Ages in the heart of Penedes, a small Monasteriolo was built in Sant Sadurni d’Anoia on the banks of the Anoia River (monasteriolo is Latin for monastery). Sant Sadurni d’Anoia, 40km from Barcelona, is the heartland for Cava making. Marqués de Monistrol is named after a local nobleman from the 14th Century.

In 1882 the Marquis of Monistrol expanded his vinyeards and decided to dedicate part of the production to the creation of a sparkling wine (i.e., Cava) using the Traditional Method. Marqués de Monistrol is now a modern state of the art winery – producing renowned Cavas and wines backed up by international awards.
